Plaid to the Bone 10k

Owen’s first 10k race, and the first time we three raced together. Tim snapped our selfie moments before the start. Owen and Tim disappeared from my view before the first mile marker. Owen got an age-group 3rd place, men 19 and under, and 27th of all 105 finishers. Of 51 male finishers, Owen was 18th, Tim 21st, and I was 31st. I also made 1st of 3, M70-99, and 6th of 18, M50-99.

Owen finished 51:13, at an 8:14 pace, for 3rd place in his age group.
With Vincent Murphy and Ralph Arquiette, we constituted the entire field of men over 70. Vincent and I both ran about a 9:40 pace, but my 59:58 chip finish time was 4 seconds faster.

Virginia Ten-Miler

Run 2025-56, Sat Sep 27th, 8am, 51st Virginia 10-Miler, my 28th. 1:49:28, 10:57 pace, 1st of 3 M75-79, 89th of 163 M50+. Beat my 2024 pace by 11 sec. Rained the whole way, sometimes heavily. 68°F, 20°C, Humidity 96%, Wind NE 6mph, UV 0, AT 65°F, Activity Feel 65°F. Below, our team from Fredericksburg Area Running Club (Karen H, John A, me, Jeff H, Brian M, 8:23!), moments before the start, then later at the Waffle House. Winners: Athanas Kioko, 48:14, and Werkuha Getachewali, 54:53. Finishers: 563 women, 836 men. Results of the open team competition: TBA.

4th of July 5-miler

Run 39, race, Fri 4 July, 7:30am, Fallen Heroes 5-Miler, new course, my time 49:27, 9:54 pace, 1st of 6 men 70-99, 33rd of 71 men 50-99, sunny, 68°F, 20°C, Humidity 87%, Wind NNW 1mph, UV 1, AT 72°F, Activity Feel 72°F. I’d done a 5-mile warmup. Photo shows FARC club members at the start. Race finishers: 432.
