So big!

A big thank-you to Paul Flynn, who answered my online plea in Nov 2010. It’s Prometheus, on his Quest Eternal, and he’s in front of the Prudential building, not the John Hancock. Also described here.

This caught my eye while I was out for an icy run in Boston, Massachusetts, February 2007. It’s the John Hancock Tower, but so far I am unable to name the statue. Too bad I didn’t also snap the nameplate. Click the pic to enlarge.

Caution, wide load

A 78,000lb fermentation tank on a 96-wheel truck moving along a farm road in King George County on Thursday, November 3, 2005:

A barge carrying five of the tanks had arrived from Germany via Norfolk, Virginia, bound for the Coors brewery at Elkton, in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. (Mike Morones/The Free Lance-Star)

They moved these things through Fredericksburg in the middle of the night on successive Wednesdays. Every set of traffic lights had to be pulled up higher just to let them pass, but it was for a noble cause. (See this Free Lance-Star link to make it bigger.)
