Tall oak’s final day

Eugenio Cruz the tree man noticed woodpecker holes and the decay on both trunks above the fork. A second opinion agreed it was a fatal flaw in this tall white oak only 35 feet from the house. So piece by piece four men took about four hours to remove it today.

Finished!

I’ve finished splitting the big white oak behind the blue bench garden. We’d had to have it cut down and cut up by Mitchell’s Tree Service. Thank you, Denny, for lending me your splitter! Now I’ll spend the next few weeks wheel-barrowing it all to the wood pile in the back.

Autumn
