Built 1880. Cedar Run Parish founded 40 years earlier, but original church burnt during Civil War. Shared rectors for many years with nearby Grace Episcopal. For several years in the 50s, had Rev. Charles P. Moncure as rector, perhaps a relative of the Aquia Church Moncures.

I’ve seen hellebores blooming even in the dead of winter, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a wide-open bloom.

Sandy surprised me with this first daffodil — I’d said none were out yet.

The ground’s littered with those prickly seed pods from the sweetgum trees, but the magnolia buds are swelling, and today we spotted our first crocus!
Quick, deer
Trying out the new wildlife camera, hoping for a bit better than this, almost 7am on Feb 7th. But three days later about midnight we got these two at the same spot:

Super blue blood moon eclipse
Couldn’t see the January 31st early-morning eclipse from our half of North America, but by bedtime the moon was again dominating our sky. A couple of weeks later I adjusted exposure and other settings in Lightroom, but left the original viewable here.
